Design-A-Thon
Organized by Strokes

Design-A-thon is a premier UI/UX hackathon that challenges participants to transform real-world problems into innovative, user-centric design solutions. Organized by Strokes, the official design club of IIIT Nagpur, this event pushes participants to explore the boundaries of creativity, problem-solving, and design methodologies under pressure. The competition simulates real-world design challenges through case studies, user research, and time-bound hackathon-style rounds. Beyond just visuals, the focus is on creating designs that are functional, inclusive, and impactful.

Stages & Timeline
Round 1 — Online Case Study Submission
10 Oct 2026, 12:00 AM – 19 Oct 2026, 11:59 PM
A research-driven design project: user personas, heuristic evaluations of popular designs, or a critique of design flaws in major platforms. Each submission needs research findings with insights and data, a clear identification of UX issues and pain points, practical recommendations, and mockups, wireframes or prototypes. Submit one comprehensive PDF case study plus supporting visuals (PNG/JPEG/PDF); a video walkthrough of the design process and Figma or source files are optional.
Round 2 — Offline Finals (16-hour hackathon)
25 Oct 2026, 9:00 PM – 26 Oct 2026, 3:00 PM
A 16-hour on-campus design hackathon. Teams receive the problem statement at the start and must research, ideate and deliver a complete design solution — wireframes, prototypes and final designs — within the deadline. Any design or collaboration tool is allowed. Surprise twists may include target-audience shifts, theme reversals, limited palettes, or mandatory design elements.
Rules & Regulations
- Final-round submission is a Figma file link containing research insights, wireframes, prototypes, the final design, and a dedicated presentation section.
- The Figma file must be set to “anyone with the link can view”.
- All submissions must be original work — strict no-plagiarism policy.
- Participants must bring their own laptops and equipment for the offline rounds.
- Respect IIIT Nagpur's campus rules and code of conduct.
- Organizers' and judges' decisions are final.
